Free PNG to WebP converter

Create WebP files suited to modern websites while keeping PNG transparency. Compare detail and file size before downloading.

Why convert PNG to WebP?

WebP can reduce the size of images used on the web while preserving their transparency channel. It is a useful destination for illustrations, product cutouts, and screenshots that still need an alpha channel.

Cutflow encodes colors with an adjustable quality setting and preserves PNG transparency. The output keeps the original dimensions. Keep the PNG source as well when icons or fine text must remain pixel accurate.

PNG or WebP with transparency

WebP targets a compact delivery file, while PNG remains a lossless source format.

Inspect edges and fine detail

The slider affects colors, not transparency. A low value can reduce size sharply, but may also soften letters, flat colors, gradients, and the edges around a cutout.

Start at 90%, then compare PNG and WebP in the magnified preview. Cutflow shows the size saving or increase and can rebuild the batch from the original PNG files.

How to convert PNG to WebP

  1. Drop your PNG files. Add up to 50 files without uploading them to a server.
  2. Test the quality. Pay close attention to text, edges, and transparent areas.
  3. Confirm the saving. Download only when both size and appearance meet your needs.

FAQ

Is PNG transparency preserved?

Yes. The output WebP keeps the alpha channel and transparent areas from the source PNG.

Will WebP always be smaller?

No. Results depend on the image and selected quality. The percentage shown by Cutflow gives the answer for every file.

Is the output WebP lossless?

This page uses an adjustable quality level for color compression. It does not currently offer a separate lossless WebP mode.

Which format should I keep as the original?

Keep the PNG when you need a lossless editing source. Use WebP as the delivery copy.

Every tool here follows the same rule

Whatever you came to do, it happens on your own machine. Nothing is uploaded, nothing is stored, and none of it costs anything.

Your images are still on your device

That is the whole idea. Drop them, take the results, close the tab. Nothing was sent anywhere and nothing was kept.
